I think we are all at a turning point. We need to wake up on multiple different levels. As I am writing the script for the podcast my intent was to find a gentle, kind persuasive way to encourage you to go after your health by talking about a great book called How to Eat, Move, and Be Healthy by paul chek. (we’ll get to that)
But as I sit here writing the script, there’s a flash flood warning. I investigated the areas it was meant to affect. I thought to myself, “am I prepared, if there were a natural disaster right now?. Do I really know how dangerous a flash flood can be? Do I have enough food? Do I have water? Where are my belongings? If I needed to throw some clothes in a bag would I know where they are and what to get?”.
I don’t mean to scare anybody with this but, it’s time for a conscious revolution. We need to wake up to ourselves, to our health, and what it means to be human.
So as I am analyzing this flash flood warning, I ask myself, am I capable of surviving a natural disaster. We need to wake up to the power of the earth, and the power of ourselves. The earth is because I am. The earth is because we are. Nothing is separate. We can’t just be a human and go about our day on our cell phones watching tik tok videos with half naked girls. We need to take care of our physical and mental health. Would I have the physical stamina to walk for miles with no food and water and weather a cold storm? Is my body and my mind strong enough? Can I have enough strength to push myself aside and help elderly or children?
Our increased technology use of computers, cell phones, doing things for the tik tok, addiction to emails and TV is taking us away LIFE. It’s taking us away from being human.
Human beings are strong, durable creatures. That is why our species has been able to survive for so long. But we don’t do the things that make us strong and durable anymore.
Things like strength training, mobility, eating naturally, lifting rocks, quiet time pondering, cold exposure. These tough, challenging things are what allowed us to swim in cold water to flee the tiger, or hunt through a snowstorm, or lift rocks to build a shelter.
So I want you to honestly ask yourself, with my current lifestyle, would I be able to survive a natural disaster? Would you be strong and fit enough to build a fort without hurting yourself? If you were left with no one but you, what could you do? Would making changes in your health allows you to survive in a war or flood?
So we need to face our fears. Face the pain. Face our pain. The pain that keeps us stuck. We need to stop communicating and start connecting. Do you know your neighbors? Do you know your community?
These are all serious questions that we cannot be immune to, because we are human and this is not forever.
We owe it to our friends, our family and or community, to take an honest look at our elves and RE-sensitize ourselves to nature, to the elements, and to hard work.
Strength training is preparing your body.
Meditating is preparing your mind.
Cold exposure is preparing you for the elements.
I know it isn’t the cave days anymore but do you think people in Ukraine, or Indonesia or Brazil where there have been natural disasters are living much differently?
I’ve really been quiet about my passion for health and wellness recently, because I have been in observing mode. It’s felt in-authentic to promote health and wellness and fitness because I don’t want to bark, and I’ve spent my time trying to find the best way to understand how the world works and why we are the way we are.
But these natural disasters are jarring, and so is the message. It’s time to wake up. It is time to heal. It’s time to strengthen our minds and our bodies. It’s time to face our fears and our emotions so we can see clearly what life is. The funny thing is, I can’t tell you what it’s like you have to feel it. But I can help you get there. I can help you challenge yourself. I can hear you as you figure it out. I can support and empathise and guide you to face the pain of temporary physical and mental discomfort. But I can’t feel it for you. You have to want to feel it. You have to want to feel proud, strong, capable, durable.
Here’s the deeper thing. I know that health is something that you have to come to terms with on your own. I can’t tell you to do it. You have to want to do it. And when you start something, it’s scary and vulnerable as shit. You’re scared of change, and growth because you don’t know what it’s like. So, I want to give you resources that you can safely explore and implement health on your terms so I want to discuss the eat move and be healthy book, it’s simple, digestible, and actionable. Plus, you can do it in the comfort of your own home. You just have to be willing to DO IT. Full heart. Focus. Discipline. You must do this to survive whatever life throws at you.
But if you are highly motivated and want to feel strong, and powerful, and confident, and clear, and want to get there faster thats were a coach like me can can help.
I have been working as a health and fitness professional for over 10 years working with people trying to lose weight, gain muscle, feel better from the age of 16 all the way to 90 years old. I’ve seen it all. Shoulder problems, neck problems, back problems, knee problems, stress problems, food problems, so I have an understanding of most concerns. And when I don’t have knowledge in an area, I defer it and refer it. I know my limits, and it is my responsibility to be conscious (or aware) of who I am and what I know. (consciousness will be our next podcast)
This book is the most comprehensive, digestible, actionable, understandable, well rounded guide and book I have read, to the extent that I am certified as a holistic lifestyle coach through the CHEK foundation, which if you guys don’t know, there are certain professional athletes who only seek out a CHEK practitioner when it comes to their health.I love Paul Chek and what he teaches because it is so well rounded and takes in all aspects of our body mind and soul health and takes everything into consideration including injuries.
